Now, Android King Market

A new turning point occurred in the world of tablets.  Gartner, the information technology research firm, has released their tablet sales figures for 2013.
Android topped the list for the most popular platforms for the first time. He defeated variety of Apple's iPad tablet nearly doubled. If Android takes almost 62 percent of the market of 121 million tablet sales, Apple sold 70 million for a 36 percent market share.

For comparison, last year Apple led the tablet category with nearly 53 percent of sales of 61 million units . Compare with Android about 46 percent to 53 million tablets sold.

What drives sales today? " Low-end tablet , a smaller screen , and buyers for the first time , " wrote Gartner as cited Techcrunch, Monday, March 3, 2014. Ironically , one of the companies that have pioneered it, the Amazon , have not fared well.

Interestingly , while many people see the Amazon and the Kindle Fire as a major nuisance in the tablet market when the e-commerce giant it first entered the market in 2011 , the company seems to have lost some strength. Sales rose 2 million units to 9 million units , but the overall market share dropped to 4.8 percent from 6.6 percent in 2012.
Price and size alone are unlikely to be successful in the future . Gartner believes that this may indicate a turn toward more features , even on cheaper devices.

" In 2013 the tablet into a mainstream phenomenon, with a choice of Android-based tablets are still widely in mainstream consumer budgets and still offer adequate specification , " wrote research director Roberta Cozza.

" As the Android tablet market become very commoditised , in 2014 will be important for vendors to focus on the experience and value of the technology and ecosystem - not just hardware and costs - to ensure brand loyalty and increase margins. "
