Google is geared up to try out it’s the project Ara Prototype and is scheduled to do so in Puerto Rico. With the year’s move into a step forward on the project Ara, Google is entering the second year of the development of the project. The latest device is the second modular phone prototype that has been developed as part of the project.
The prototype has been codenamed “Spiral 2,” and essentially aims at delivering users an altogether new technology in the world of smartphones.
Google’s concept consists of offering users a customizable smartphone. This is better explained by saying that the phone would allow users, for example, to swap the camera or the batteries on the run. Other hot-swappable features include 3G calling capabilities as well.
This would allow users the freedom to customize their smartphone in accordance with individual needs. A shortcoming of the phone is that it would immediately be available with middle-level specifications, such as a 1280X720 display. Perhaps the company could improve those details after reading the success level of the device in the real world.
Google wisely chose Puerto Rico to launch the prototype because the location offers a number of benefits. It acts as a gateway to the North American, as well as the Latin markets. Apart from this, the population of the place is mostly mobile-savvy, and more than 75% of the people rely on smartphones as the chief Internet device. The company plans to partner with two network carriers to assist the launch. Claro, the largest cellular provider in Latin America, and Open Mobile will be providing service in all of Peurto Rico.
Google’s new concept would require the development of hardware just as the development of apps in the present days. To facilitate the delivery of hardware components directly to customers, the company would also create mobile hardware shops.
